In the realm of organized religion, the traditions of men, denominational views, bible institutes, bible colleges, bible seminaries, etc., there is a
preconcieved  belief among those  in professing  Christendom that if a man is divorced or remarried then is is not "good enough" for the job
in the Ministry as a Bishop,  Elder,  Overseer,  Pastor,  and that even of a Deacon.  Thus, like in the Artricle I wrote "Husband of One Wife?",
we will be  examining and looking  at several verses of  scripture that  come from  Paul's writtings as  well as those  that come from the Law.

1 Timothy 3:2-7 KJV

"A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house,
having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the
church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a
good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil
."

If "the husband of one wife" meant to never be divorced then the scriptural grounds for divorce that was given by the Lord Himself and the Apostle Paul which
actually unbinds a marriage and releases for a new marriage without sin is pointless.
"God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar;" Romans 3:4a. Now
look below here at the verses listed under the Dispensation of the Grace of God as well as the one from under the Law.

1 Corinthians 7:15 "But if the unbelieving depart (SAVED OR LOST), let him (OR HER) depart. A brother (INCLUDES BISHOPS AND DEACONS) or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us (EVERY SAVED PERSON) to peace (NO STRIFE OR FIGHTING OR FINGER POINTING)."

1 Corinthians 7:27
"Art thou (SINGULAR DISTINCTIVE = A MAN) bound unto a wife (PAUL DOES NOT STATE IF THIS WIFE #1)? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife."

1 Corinthians 7:28
"But and if thou marry (TOLD NOT TO SEEK A NEW WIFE, BUT IF YOU DO), thou hast not sinned (IT IS NOT GOOD FOR MAN TO BE ALONE); and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you."

Matthew 19:9
"And I say unto you (PLURAL DISTINCTIVE = NATION OF ISRAEL), Whosoever shall put away his wife,(REMEMBER THIS IS UNDER THE LAW, NOT GRACE) except it be for fornication (AN EXCEPTION UNDER THE LAW), and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery."

If "the husband of one wife" meant never to be divorced, then multiple live-in relationships, as long as one stays away from the sacrament of marriage, allows a
promiscuous person to hold office of Bishop and keep a faithful non-promiscuous person with possibly a deserting wife from serving God. This is neither the intent nor
the correct application of the section of this verse. Paul never intended for any of what has been going on for the past 2000 years to happen. Even under grace!

If "the husband of one wife" meant never to be divorced then why didn't God just simply say "never divorced"? Man wants to focus on sin, under the Dispensation
of Grace, while God wants us to renew the mind, and win the lost to Christ. Anyway, a man or woman that is divorced, as the word is used in the Bible, means unbound,
loosed or unmarried.
It is Biblically impossible to be divorced yet be married to a person, at the same time. The Bible never expects for a "put away" spouse to live that
way forever, they are absolutely free to remarry. See the below verses.

1 Corinthians 7:8 "I say therefore to the unmarried (VIRGINS, DIVORCED) and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I (SINGLE)."

1 Corinthians 7:27 "Art thou (SINGULAR DISTINCTIVE = A MAN) bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife."

John 4:17 "The woman answered and said, I have no husband (SHE HAS HAD FIVE, BUT NOW HAS NONE). Jesus said unto her,
Thou hast well said (CHRIST IS TOTALLY IN AGREEMENT WITH HER), I have no husband: (CHRIST SAW SHE HAD NO HUSBAND)"

John 4:18 "
For thou hast had (PAST TENSE - DID HAVE IN TIMES PAST) five husbands; and he whom thou now hast (RIGHT NOW) is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly."

The "put away" spouse is NEVER one who is attached to a former living spouse; that is ridiculous! In fact, if a man (that a divorced woman goes on to marry) dies,
the law of death that frees her from her second husband forbids that woman to return to the first husband. (Why?) Because that first man that is still living is not her
(living) husband any more! And yet to the fact, many groups today teach you must go back to your first husband to be saved. Hog wash! Paul never taught it, neither
shall I! Besides,
That is an abomination to God. according to Deut 24:3-4, which is under the Law, and only someone who does not know their Bible would
pretend otherwise! Romans 7:1 "Know ye not, brethren, for I speak to them that know the law, how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?"
Do you know what the law says? Jesus said seven times "have ye not read?"
Even though in His earthly ministry, which was exclusive to the Jews, the point is still
valid! "have ye not read?"

Act 17:11 "...they received the word (DID NOT QUESTION OR CHANGE TGHE WORD TO FIT THEIR PREFERENCE) with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."

1 Thessalonians 5:21 "Prove all (ALL MEANS ALL) things; hold fast (TO HANG ON TO) that which is good."

1 Thessalonians 5:24 "Faithful is he (GOD)  that calleth you (THE MEMEBERS OF THE BODY OF CHRIST), who also will do it."

Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your (PLURAL DISTINCTIVE = MEMEBERS OF THE BODY OF CHRIST) mind, that ye (PLURAL DISTINCTIVE = MEMEBERS OF THE BODY OF CHRIST) may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Acts 25:7 "And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints
against Paul, which they could not prove (NO EVIDENCE TO BACK UP THEIR ACCUSATIONS)."

Other things to consider:

-One has to deny the laws of marriage, divorce, and remarriage, and the Biblical examples of multiple wives.

Genesis 4:19 "And Lamech took unto him two wives (MORE THAN ONE AT THE SAME TIME IN TIMES PAST BEFORE THE FLOOD): the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah."

The "the husband of one wife" in the Greek does not say divorce but literally "a one woman man" that's for all those hypocrites eveywhere that always
run to the Greek to show how smart they really are not.  If everyone else can not read Greek and you can,  it is your word against NOBODY else in most
of the local churches. One would have to ignore the greatest ministry in the world which is to restore and reconcile.

Galatians 6:1 "Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted."

2 Corinthians 5:18 "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;"

Romans 11:29 "For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance."

Since the list includes novices, the pagan world would not have been able to follow the list to the "letter" without some liberty. Catholics, Church of God,
Baptist,  Pentacostal,  Church of Christ...etc  does not seem to get this one. I addressed this in the Sister Article "Husband of One Wife?" that is wrote.

One has to deny the context and author of 1 Tim who was neither married nor innocent of all that he commanded;

Before salvation

1 Timothy 1:12-13 "And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief."

After salvation

Acts 23:3 "Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?"

Titus 1:7 "For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;"

This also includes Peter

1 Timothy 3:10 "And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless."

Galatians 2:11 "But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed."

Religion follows a hypocritical,  pharisaical approach that never follows the letter of the word even when it also comes to women speaking in church or their own kid's
obedience or filthy lucre etc. They pick and choose. They ignore all else that is given by our Apostle Paul as guidelines for the requirements of a Bishop or a Deacon.
The bible truth is easy;   however,  if error is to be made it must fall on the side of grace (getting what we don't deserve).  There is a very grave danger in manipulating
the application of a verse to actually disqualify God's laborers that he alone has called. We are all called!  We, the Members of the Body of Christ, we are Saved, we
are sealed till the day of redemption,  and accoding to His (Christ) Blood, we have the forgiveness of sins (ALL, Past, Present, and Future). We are complete in him.

Romans 11:29 "For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance (NOT UP TO ANY OF US TO JUDGE)."

1 Corinthians 4:2-5 "Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God."

One has to deny 2 Corinthians 5:17-20 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. ". The list is plainly in the present tense not past tense, nor is it in the future tense. Neither is the listing showing
the Great Commission, which is done today by the major denominations.

Titus 3:15 "All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you (TO THE MEMBERS OF THE BODY OF CHRIST, WHICH ALSO INCLUDES ALL THAT ARE IN THE MINISTRY) all. Amen."

A Bishops confession

Titus 3:3 "For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers (DIFFERENT) lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating
one another.
"
So, here we see a good example of 90% of the men in the ministry today, well at least as they were before they were ever saved. Captain of a football
team who was intimate with most of the cheerleaders?

Reading the word "divorced" into the verse when it is not there is called private interpretation. Much less adding the strict adherence that allows no grace under any
circumstances (even to include divorce before salvation) shows a strong private prejudice.

2 Peter 1:20
"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation (NOT UP TO YOU OR ME TO INTERPRATE)."

Most in Religion seem to agree with each other that a widowed pastor can have a SECOND wife and not violate the word "ONE". This is not scriptural, if you want to
focas on spouses instead of sharing the Gospel.  Under the Law a deceased spouse is still counted as having been there in Matthew 1:6 "And Jesse begat David the
king; and David the king begat Solomon of her
that had been the wife
of Urias (NOTICE SHE WAS AT ONE TIME THE WIFE OF ANOTHER MAN, AND WAS NOT
COUNTED TO BE HIS WIFE ANYMORE)
;
"
So if they that think them selves to be something important want to go about and play
"do this" and "do not this", Ibelieve they need to read their bible before they open their mouths. Even better, they should have their mouths stopped and remain silent.
They need to study. Study and notteach others. Else they prove themselves to be fools, not knowing what they say.

One would have to make the Bible say something that it does not, just like a Catholic would do with Matthew 16:18
"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
"
Anyone who knows the ways of the Catholics knows that they all say
that Peter is the founder of their church, and that they are the true church, and yet they ignore Paul, but they will use his writtings, when it fits them to do so.

The spiritual applications of the Lord Jesus Himself, in His earthly ministry, are never truly accepted or applied. For example Jesus said that the woman at the well
"hast HAD five husbands" but presently had none! Those who use this as a proof text for multiple living wives never read or apply their false teaching to themselves.
The question is always "are you divorced?" when the proper question would have to be "have you ever slept with more than one woman in your whole life?" Most
of the Once Only married Preachers today and the Deacons could never escape this level of scrutiny as to actually be a virgin and to only know one woman. It does
happen in this present evil world, but is not the standard that we are to live by in any stretch of mans imagination. To be even more critical of this, we could talk about
spiritual adultery by a lustful eye, but maybe some other time.

Other verses on multiple wives

Before the Law

Genesis 6:2 "That the sons of God (ANGLES NOT CHRISTIANS) saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose (MORE THAN ONE WIFE WAS CHOOSEN AT THE SAME TIME)."

Durring the Law

Deut 17:17 "Neither shall he multiply wives to himself (MORE THAN ONE AT THE SAME TIME), that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold."

1 Kings 11:3 "And he had seven hundred wives (700 WIVES AT THE SAME TIME), princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart."

Did you know that in the eyes of the Pharisees, God Himself is not qualified.

Note: This is also under the Law

Ezr 10:3 "Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those
that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
"

Jeremiah 3:8 "And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous
sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
"

Common sense must be applied, for not every "once known, once married" bishop or deacon that was perfect in every way could have children. That would disqualify
them, not having children to prove their abilities. Yet, there thousands of preachers and deacons that are ordained, and guess what, no children. Do they not read their
bibles at all?

The list is an obvious standard, but elevated to "qualifications" because of the word "must". Hypocrites always strain at a gnat and swallow a camel. A sincere close-up examination reveals many things, for example:

1. 1 Timothy 3:11 "Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things."
Hey! Better  start firing  a lot of those once married Deacons with those gossiping wives!

2. 1 Timothy 3:12 "Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well."
You might have to read that again, and again Oh yeah! T hat will not  work either. You don't get it because you won't read it right!

3. 1 Timothy 3:7 "Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil."
Does that include a credit report, or a criminal background check? What about a report from a customer service department? This includes waitresses who receive
low tips after serving the perfect gentlemen. Most p reachers are commonly reported as the worst retail customers as well as restaurant customers, in attitude, personality,
and the ego. I have worked in the customer service field for almost 21 years. I have never been tipped by a preacher or a deacon! Just get complaints!

In truth, every bishop or deacon that does not believe that they can hold an inspired copy of the word of God, the King James Bible, in their hand is not qualified according to Titus.

Titus 1:7 "For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;"
Titus 1:8 "But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate"
Titus 1:9
"Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers."

Most bishops and deacons are not holding fast to any word of God because they have adopted a doctrine of devils that states that "only the original autographs are the inspired word of God".

Be very careful who you disqualify from the ministry! It may come back home to you!
