| "Puffed Up" BB Christians |
Continuing what our general preahcing thought today - "Who do we think we are, anyway?" - let's look at what the Book says about being puffed up with pride, etc Are Bible Believing Christians beginning to live on their own self-designed and redefined religion as they slowy creep away from the final authority they used to claim in their KJB?.
Pride: Inordinate self-esteem; an unreasonable conceit of one's own superiority in talents, beauty, wealth, accomplishments, rank or elevation in office, which manifests itself in lofty airs, distance, reserve, and often in contempt of others' insolence; rude treatment of others; loftiness; ostentation.
Puffed up: to be proud to be swelled up with conceit
Dealing with the difficult days and lives so many Christians have in their testimony these days:
True, we are a great work of
God since we trusted Christ!
But we have not arrived yet - we have not landed yet! We
have plenty of building
left to do!
PS - if you don't think you are very prideful, then you are probably more prideful than you want to realize. We have been TAUGHT to be prideful - USA - Homeschooled - church - KJB, etc.
This looking at ourselves more than we should...
So you have a sincere faith - and do you 'avoid
the stain of unconfessed sin"
Do you believe that now that you are pure, then all things are
pure to you and what you do will alwyas be pure in God's eyes,
etc.?
Where do folks get this present purity
concept today?
Over claiming - wrongly dividing and over application of Philippians 4:8; I Timothy 1:5,19; 3:9; 5:22;
II Timothy 2:22
Do not condemn yourself
Romans 14:22
Pride of life is of the world
I John 2:16
Pride in yourself - like the wicked?
Psalm 10:4-6
Don't think too highly of folks!
I Corinthians 4:6,7
Why do we still need teachers, preachers, etc.
I Corinthians 4:17-19
Why do folks get angry back at us? or these messages on GC,
Music, KJB, etc. I am not angry at them for their answers...
etc.
I may not want to talk anymore about it - or debate, etc.
2Tm:2:23: But foolish and unlearned questions avoid,
knowing that they do gender strifes.
Ti:3:9:
But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions,
and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
Don't 'rejoice' at another's fall!
I Corinthians 5:1,2
also see Galatians 6:1,2
We have knowlege? in part in that reference
I Corinthians 8:1
Today? the Book has it all!
Do you believe that or is Bible Believing not what it used to be?
Conceit?
For I would not, brethren, that ye
should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in
your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel,
until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. Romans 11:25
Proverbs 18:10-12 -The name of the LORD is a strong tower:
the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. The rich man's wealth
is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour
is humility.
Proverbs 26:4,5 - Answer not a fool according to his folly,
lest thou also be like unto him. Answer a fool according to his
folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
Proverbs 26:12 - Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit?
there is more hope of a fool than of him.
Proverbs 28:11 - The rich man is wise in his own conceit;
but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
WE TEND TO FORGET...
WHO WE WERE...
WHO WE ARE...
HOW WE GOT HERE...
WHERE WE ARE GOING...
WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO US BETWEEN NOW AND THEN...
WHAT IT IS GOING TO BE LIKE THEN!
Colossians 4:25
